Red Rice Keep Blood Sugar

Diabetes mellitus or diabetes has become a global health problem. The number of patients with this disease continues to increase dramatically, including in Indonesia. One of the prevention efforts that can be done is setting a good diet.

From this strategy, various studies have shown, changing the type of food consumed is effective to control blood sugar levels. One way is to replace white rice with brown rice or bread from Cereal intact.

Latest publications from Harvard researchers published in the Archives of Internal Medicine states, red rice and food from Whole Cereal is a healthier choice for diabetics because it raised blood sugar slowly.

Knowledge about the benefits of brown rice for diabetes is not new, but until now the white rice is still the favorite of many people. In a study of 200,000 people known to Americans, those who ate white rice has diabetes risk 17 percent higher than that seldom eat rice.

Conversely, people who eat red rice risk for developing diabetes fell by 11 percent. A similar benefit was found if we replace white rice with Cereal intact, including bread or pasta.

Consumption of food high in fiber succeeded in reducing the risk of diabetes because it can lower blood sugar and insulin levels and reduce the risk of progression of poor glucose tolerance in type 2 diabetes.

As with intact Cereal, brown rice is also rich in fiber and energy production in stages or also known as having a low glycemic index. Therefore, experts are calling for 70 percent met the needs of our carbohydrates from brown rice or whole Cereal.
